Google Unveils New Vulnerability Reporting Platform

Google today unveiled a new platform where researchers can report vulnerabilities in the tech company's services and products. Through bughunters.google.com joins together various bug bounty programs of Google.

Ten years ago, Google first launched a rewards program for Chrome, followed by a separate program for the tech company's web services. This was followed by, among other things, a bug bounty program for Android. The Vulnerability Reward Program, which includes *.google.com, *.youtube.com, and *.blogger.com, has paid out more than $29.3 million in rewards over the past decade.

Bughunters.google.com should make it easier for researchers to participate in Google's various bug bounty programs. For example, there is one intake form to report vulnerabilities. In addition, there are leaderboards per country and researchers can win awards and badges for certain vulnerabilities.

The website also offers a Bug Hunter University with information for bug hunters and the process for researchers to publish their bug reports is more streamlined. Google also says that nearly twenty researchers who reported vulnerabilities now work at the tech company.
