Sierra Wireless shuts down production in factories after ransomware attack


Telecom giant Sierra Wireless has shut down production at all plants due to a ransomware attack. The company says this in a press release and has reported it to the American stock market watchdog SEC . The attack on the internal systems took place last Saturday, March 20.


According to the company, the impact of the attack has been limited to its own systems and customers' products and services have not been affected. Sierra Wireless was forced to shut down production. The company's website and other internal operations were also disrupted by the attack. The telecom giant says it will resume production in its factories "soon". Further details are not given about the attack.


In the meantime, Sierra Wireless is asking customers and partners for patience as it resolves the situation. Due to the attack, the company has withdrawn its first-quarter expectations, which it gave on Feb. 23. Sierra Wireless is a Canadian multinational company that supplies all kinds of telecom equipment and IoT solutions. Last year, the company had sales of $448 million.
