Czech Republic Extradited Two Ukrainian Citizens Accused of Cyber Attacks on The United States


According to the investigation, the criminal group operated in several states and carried out cyberattacks on financial institutions not only in the United States, but also in other countries. The Czech police, with the assistance of the US FBI, detained Ukrainian citizens back in February 2020.

Yaroslav Ibegei, a representative of the National Center for Combating Organized Crime, told reporters on Saturday.


"In early March, the Czech Republic extradited to the United States two Ukrainians suspected of participating in an organized criminal group in carrying out cyberattacks and legalizing funds obtained as a result of this criminal activity," he said.


According to law enforcement officers, the Ukrainians were detained back in February 2020. The perpetrators were identified in collaboration with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to Ibegei, they face up to 20 years in prison.
